ADULT ACHIEVER SECTIONS
The Battle of the Giants event hosts its unique and prestigious Gala evening on Saturday of the schedule.
The Adult Solo Achiever, is our most decorated section of the event whereby competitors take part to win the title of the ultimate Giant in an improvisation showdown.
In 2024, the Achiever Team Achiever, Tap Battles and Afro crew section's will continue, as a spectacle on this unique night of World Class competitive entertainment.

Battle of the Achiever - Solo
The Adult Achiever Solo section, is one of the most prestigious and historic sections of the event whereby competitors take part to win the title of the ultimate Giant.
Winners across several 17&Over solo sections in multiple dance disciplines, take on the challenge presented by our Dj, to create a performance good enough to entertain our audience and blow away the judges.

2023 ACHIEVER WINNERS
Tsebang Sibampo has claimed the title of Adult Solo Achiever for 2023 with a phenomenal performance under our new Solo Achiever structure. Going up against 9 solo winners from Performing Arts, Streetdance, Disco Dance & Freestyle.
"The Ritual", from Faymous Studios, took the title of our Adult Team Achiever for 2023 with a breathtaking display of art.
HPDE (High Performance Dance Education) Production choreographed by: Debbie Rakusin. "STIMELA - Tribute to Hugh Masikela" left the Sun City Superbowl in awe.

ACHIEVER SECTION RULES
ADULT ACHIEVER SOLO
The WINNERS (1st place only) of the ADULT (17&Over) SOLO (Male & Female) sections in the following categories:
HIP HOP, POPPING, STREET DANCE SHOW, MODERN, JAZZ, SHOW DANCE, TAP, BALLET, DISCO DANCE SOLO, FREESTYLE SOLO
will be eligible to take part in our ADULT ACHIEVER SOLO section.
How it will work:
-
Once competitors have won their respective categories within the BOTG competition, they will be required to confirm with Tracy (competition secretary) at the event whether they wish to participate in the SOLO ADULT ACHIEVER section.

Competitors will be split into heats to perform a 1 minute improv performance to a selected piece of music, the adjudicators will eliminate down to 12 competitors, depending on the number of entries.

The 12 competitors will perform another round of 1 minute improv to a selected piece of music, the adjudicators will eliminate down to 6 competitors for a final.

Finalists will draw random numbers to determine the order of performance.

Once finalists have drawn numbers, All finalists will have ONE chance to listen to the mixed production of music. Dancer #1 will have time to listen to the 1-minute mix one more time, prior to performing. All other finalists will be securely kept in our backstage soundproof room. While finalist #1 is performing, finalist #2 will be allowed out of the room and into the Super Bowl to sit facing the back of the stage allowing their 1 minute to listen to the mix while the previous finalist is performing. This will continue until all finalists have performed.

Judges will score in order of merit to decide our ultimate SOLO GIANT.
Rules:

Only winners of the respective sections are eligible to participate in the SOLO ADULT ACHIEVER.

2nd place is not eligible to participate should 1st place be unable/unwilling to participate.

Should the same dancer win multiple solo sections across/within the disciplines, they will decide on which discipline they wish to represent. 2nd place will again, NOT replace the winner in this circumstance.

Competitors are allowed variate out of their selected style in order to adapt to the music.

Competitors are allowed to make use of handheld props with the exception of any powder, liquid, flammable and/or dangerous objects/materials.

Competitors may not remove any items of clothing during a performance.
Judging Criteria:

Judges will mark performances on the SABOD TCIS marking system.

Scores will be collated and placings determined by our scrutineer.

ADULT TEAM ACHIEVER
Teams must already be entered into the BOTG competition within their respective disciplines and have paid their entry fee to be eligible to enter this section.
Adult (17&Over) WTC Small Groups (4-7 members) & Formations (8-24 members) in the following categories:
HIP HOP, MODERN/CONTEMPORARY, JAZZ, SHOW DANCE, LYRICAL, TAP, DISCO DANCE
Are eligible to enter the ADULT TEAM ACHIEVER section of our Gala Evening.
The aim of the section is to find the ultimate GIANTS of the Team sections.
How it will work:

Team Captains/Studio Heads can enter their Teams into this section by clicking HERE (entry link will open soon) and filling out the form should you wish to participate in the ADULT TEAM ACHIEVER section.

Teams must already be entered into the BOTG competition within their respective disciplines and have paid their entry fee to be eligible to enter this section.

Teams can perform their current choreographies entered into BOTG or come with something especially planned.

Only WTC Small Groups & Formations in the respective categories above are eligible to participate in the ADULT TEAM ACHIEVER.

Formations 8-24 members

HIP HOP SMALL GROUPS will be required to upload their own music when entering this section. No tempo limit – it's a “Hip Hop Crew” vibe.

Teams will compile their own music mix of 2:00-3:00mins max. Competitors will be penalized for routines exceeding the time limit.

Dancers must be as per entry into the BOTG competition and all must have paid all the necessary fees required per dancer.
